Following the Path of a Picture

Recently, through the Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum inquiry and search engine, the Banks family from Boulder, Colorado found photos of their mother, Paula Zyto, who had been a Holocaust survivor. The family was searching for information about her when her name appeared in the photo archives of the museum.

International Guests at the Holocaust and Remembrance Day National Gathering

The Ghetto Fighters' House had the honor of hosting distinguished guests from all over the world at the Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day National Assembly . Ambassadors, Consuls, Friends of the GFH from Poland, Lithuania, Uruguay and others were present at the ceremony that marked the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Torchlighters and Wreath for the Righteous Among the Nations 2013

Every year the Ghetto Fighters' House holds the traditional Holocaust and Heroism Day National Gathering. This year, the closing ceremony, with 10,000 attendees, marked the 70th anniversary of the ghetto uprisings. As part of the memorial ceremony, Holocaust survivors and their families lit the six torches and a wreath was placed in honor of the Righteous Among the Nations.

International Museum Day at the Ghetto Fighters' House

This year the Ghetto Fighters' House will be free to the general public (not including scheduled group visits) on May 16th in honor of the International Museum Day. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to encourage public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society.

With Chavka Folman-Raban in Warsaw at the 70th Anniversary Events for the Ghetto Uprising

Raya Kalisman, Founder Director of the Center for Humanistic Education at the Ghetto Fighters' Museum, writes about her visit to Warsaw along with Chavka Folman-Raban and Dr. Anat Livne, director of the Ghetto Fighters’ House. They were invited by the Municipality of Warsaw to participate in the program of events held to mark the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The Ghetto Fighters' House Mourns the Passing of Renowned Architect Ram Karmi

Ram Karmi, one of Israel's leading architects, has died at the age of 82. Karmi, who designed Yad Layeled at the Ghetto Fighters' House, received the prestigious Rechter Prize for 1999 for the Children's Memorial.
