Janusz Korczak

This educational kit presents Korczak the educator and intellectual, a humanist who sought to make the world a better place through education. His was a unique approach to educating for a life of tolerance and mutual respect, beginning with the values orientation to the individual from childhood, in concern for the small and weak, and continuing with education to choose between wrong and right, and acting with responsibility toward the Other. A child raised with respect will grow up to be a respectful adult – this is the essence of Korczak’s educational work in practice, according to his book, The Child’s Right to Respect.

In the Warsaw ghetto, apart from the “bubble” of a functioning lifestyle and educational environment maintained in his orphanage, Korczak served as a public figure who worked on behalf of the rights of the children there, weakened and starved for human dignity.  He fought for the dignity of the sick and dying and their right to receive care in suitable conditions.

The Kit contains:

·         20  color placards (14” x 20”)

·         Booklet of resource texts from Korczak’s writings.

·         Instructor’s guide with suggested activities; and a photo album, “Janusz Korczak of the Children.”

Available in Hebrew, English, German, Spanish, Russian or Arabic.
