The International Conference of the Association of Holocaust Organizations at the GFH in July 2014

In July, the Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum hosted an international conference in conjunction with the Association of Holocaust Organizations. 

The conference, titled “Holocaust and Democratic Values: Educational Challenges”, was supported in part by the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance).

International Visitors to GFH

The museum was honored to have many guests visit throughout the summer.  Some choose to travel to Israel despite the challenges during Operation Eitan.  These visits were especially important to us as we continue to reach out to our international community. 

Bergen-Belsen Delegation Arrives in Israel

Despite the security situation in Israel this summer, the second part of the Bergen-Belsen - GFH exchange took place at the museum here in Israel.  The educational staff of the Bergen-Belsen Memorial spent a week with the GFH staff in Germany this past April.   

Over 2000 Students Participate in GFH's Poland Seminar

During the last two weeks of August, the museum was filled with groups who had come to participate in one of the most special programs offered by the Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum: our Two-Day Seminar. This encompassing program is generally selected by Israeli high schools that send delegations to Poland in the month of September.

The Story of Ruth Adler - Bearer of Yitzhak Katzenelson's Last Poem

This summer marked the 70th anniversary of Transport 222.  At a conference held at the Atlit Illegal Immigrants Detention Camp, staff of the GFH Archives presented the story of Ruth Adler, who was part of a prisoner exchange during the war, and how she smuggled Yitzhak Katzenelson's last and most famous Yiddish poem from occupied France to Mandate Palestine .

Renovations of the Historical Floor and New Exhibitions
Due to Open in 2015

The "House" is planning a new permanent exhibition as well as a number of temporary exhibits, including "Deadly Medicine", on loan from the United States Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
